Melbourne is populated with over million people, but it has just as many places you could stay as a city twice its size. Since it was declared that “this will be the place for a village” less than 170 years ago, it has become one of the best arts capital of Australia. It has been recently acclaimed as the countries major event city, so it really is a wonderful and intellectual city to experience. If however, you’re on a bit of a budget and need some affordable accommodation, then you should head on down to St Kilda where you will also have easy access to a wealth of pubs and live music.
